Day 2 – First Day On The Hill

The excitement levels that have been building over the last few months have finally come to a head and Snowboard Spring Break is go!  2017 marks the 11th year that Snowboard Spring Break has been held in Kaunertal, Austria and as always, proceedings kicked off with a bang.

The weather conditions were all time, with perfect blue skies all day long.

Over 300 testers made their way up winding switchbacks to reach the dizzy heights of 2750 metres to be welcomed by the stunning sights and glorious weather that the Kaunertal Glacier has to offer.

With all the major players in the snowboard industry present, everyone was spoilt for choice of what to try first and eager to get strapped in. Snowboard product testing was fierce, and one brand reported over 100 snowboard tests throughout the day!

But Snowboard Spring Break is not just about testing, there are on hill events as well and today was The Reason World Carving Championships. On a freshly groomed piste, prepared by the legendary park crew at Kaunertal, riders threw down with the aim of the game to ride a snowboard how it should be ridden and get as low as you can. With perfectly groomed motorway pistes, riders were getting elbows down and stoke levels high.
